WFPS Run & Cranked Energy.

This past weekend my dad, Ry, and I ran our second Half Marathon (21.1km). It was the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service Run (WFPS). It was 0 degrees out but it was the perfect weather for me to run in. It wasn’t too cold and I’m so happy it wasn’t hot! This picture was taken right when we got to our race around 7:15am. I couldn’t believe how dark it still was!

The morning of race day I don’t like to eat too much, thanks so much to Cranked Energy for giving me the perfect amount to eat with all the nutrients my body needs to sustain a half marathon! Perfect running fuel! When I woke up I had two energy bites and an hour before the race I had another one.  Have I mentioned how delicious they are?!?! Well they are absolutely delicious and come in a whole variety of flavours & also have a vegan option! My favourite flavour is the Choco-Expresso! At the start of my run I was feeling pretty good and running beside the 1:55:00 pacer, I was ahead of them until around the 9 mile mark where my legs started to seize up and I had to slow down my pace. I can’t tell you how upset I was when the 2:00:00 pacers passed me. I may have started to cry… all this hard work and I only beat my time by one minute… At least I was able to finish the race! My race time was 2:05:48. Having Cayson and Brexleigh on my mind the whole time and wearing my lucky “This is for you Cayson & Brexleigh” t-shirt on during the race helped me push through. I kept thinking how lucky I am to have them and then I would start to cry all over again lol.

I can’t tell you how much of a mental game running a half marathon is. It’s absolutely insane. You feel like giving up every second, every mile but you just keep pushing through and telling yourself you can do it! If you’ve never ran one I highly encourage you to do so, you will never regret it. Well you might during the race but once you cross the finish line there is a feeling of euphoria! A “runner’s high” some even say! It is 100% worth it!

I’m also super proud of Ryan for beating his last half marathon time by 8 minutes and finishing his race in 2:10:00 and my dad in 1:56:00.

I’m hoping to do three more half marathons and then do my first full by the time I’m 25 years old. Wishful thinking? We’ll see. 😉44216958_709897752717812_7627691231400689664_n

Why I run. (Half Marathon)

“Don’t run with your legs, run with your heart”

Why do I run? Every bone in my body hurts, I’m sore for days after, I push to my limits that I almost puke, and my lungs and ribs hurt every time. Why do I run? I run because it clears my mind, I run because it’s the only time where I can run away from reality, I run because I want my kids to look up to me and know to never give up no matter how hard things get sometimes.

This past year has been the hardest year of my life. So hard that it makes running feel so easy… not easy on my body of course but on my heart. When I run I am constantly thinking of my children and it pushes me through the race so much easier. Sometimes I start tearing up when I’m running because I’m thinking of them. That is why this year on June 17th, 2018 I decided to do my first half marathon (21km) with my dad and boyfriend (Ryan). I got all three of us shirts made that said “This is for you Cayson & Brexleigh” and we got there put on our shirts and we ran our race. It was one of the best feelings ever! My goal was to finish my race in under two hours but it took me 2:06:48, my dad finished 30 seconds before me and Ryan finished 12 minutes after me. They both did amazing and I was really proud of them! It was also Father’s Day, so I think that made them feel a bit more special!

After this half marathon we did a couple of little 10km & 15km runs throughout the summer. We decided to enter another half marathon in October. That we will be running for our little kiddos again. Love you to the moon and back Cays & Brex! ” This is for you “!

Welcome to my mind. My name is Jessica and this is my first Blog EVER! This past year I have gone through so many emotions, disappointments, downfalls & literally having my heart broken into a million pieces… I decided that I was ready to share myself with the world.

I’m very new to this whole “Blog” thing so please bare with me. I will start off by introducing myself a bit – Again… my name is Jessica or you can call me Jessie, I am twenty two years young and a loving mother to my beautiful children Cayson Reign & Brexleigh Arlowe; who I both love with ALL my heart. I spend most of my days with my boyfriend Ryan, he is my rock & I am so grateful for him. This past year has been a nightmare for my family (I will share this story in another blog as it is very long) but the three things that have helped me so much through all of this are FAMILY, the LOVE of my family & friends, and FITNESS. Fitness is one of my passions and you will hear a lot about it throughout my blogs. It has helped me stay fit, focused, & healthy to carry myself through this uphill battle.

I’ve decided to start blogging because I know there’s 100’s of people who have or are going through the same as I am. My goal is to help, motivate, & inspire parents all around the world. I know life can get tough and sometimes it isn’t fair but as parents we can NEVER ever give up on ourselves but most  importantly on our children. My story hurts, my story is sad, and my story sucks but my story is me!
